2004 - MacIntyre CupMontrose Bay Yacht Club, Montrose Bay November 27th, 28th 2004
NOTICE OF RACEThe above Regatta will be conducted by the Montrose Bay Yacht Club, on the Derwent River, in conjunction with the International Mirror Class Association of Tasmania (IMCAT). 1. Rules: The regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of sailing 2001-2004, the Prescriptions and Safety Regulations of Yachting Australia, and the rules of the International Mirror Class Association of Australia (except as any of these are altered by this Notice of Race and by the Sailing Instructions).
The regatta is classified as a Category C Event in accordance with Appendix 1 and the Prescriptions of the A.Y.F. 3. Eligibility and Entry: 3.1 The regatta is open to all registered boats of the International Mirror Class Association of Tasmania. Persons wishing to enter must be financial members of the Association and members of an affiliated Yacht Club on completion of the attached Entry Form. 3.2 Eligible boats may enter on the attached Entry Form, which shall be lodged with the Organising Committee, c/- John Behrens, 53 Loatta Road, Lindisfarne 7015 By 1800 hours on Friday, November 19th Phone: 6243 0496 Accompanied by the required fee (See item 4). 3.3 Particular attention is drawn to A.Y.F. Racing Rules book, Addendum A, Part 2: Off the Beach Yachts, Regulation R1 concerning personal buoyancy. Failure to comply may result in disqualification from the race, or (at the discretion of the race committee) dismissal from the regatta. 3.4 All those taking part in this regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility. The organising authority shall not be responsible for the seaworthiness of a yacht whose entry has been accepted, or for the adequacy or sufficiency of its equipment. Attention is drawn to Fundamental Rule part 1 item 4, which states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.” No member or members of the organising authority, nor any other party involved with this regatta, shall accept any responsibility for, or be liable for, any accident, injury, damage or personal loss (material or otherwise) of any yacht, participant, or third party before, during or after any race of the regatta. The safety of any yacht and her entire management, including insurance, shall be the sole responsibility of the entrant to this regatta. 4. Fees: 4.1 An Entry fee of $20 will apply. 4.2 Late entries will be accepted however an additional fee of $5.00 will apply.
5. Schedule of Events: Race times listed are the earliest time of the warning signal for the Mirror Class. Day Date Event Time Saturday 27/11/04 Briefing 0900 Race 1 1030 Subsequent races sailed back to back. Sunday 28/11/04 1 st Race of the day 0930 Subsequent races sailed back to back. The Trophy Presentation will be approximately one hour after the completion of the last race on the final day of the series. All races will be sailed back to back with a break for lunch at the discretion of the PRO. No warning signal will be made after 1630 hrs on Saturday or 1300 hrs on Sunday. It is planned that each race will be around 45 minutes in duration. 6. Measurements: Measurement is not required but each boat shall be able to submit proof of holding a valid measurement certificate if so required. 7. Sailing Instructions The Sailing Instructions will be available online here or from your Club Representative. They will also be available at the host club after 9 am on the day the series commences. 8. Regatta Site
The regatta site will be the Montrose Bay Yacht Club, Montrose Bay. 9. Racing Area
The racing area will be on the Derwent River, in close proximity to the Montrose Bay Yacht Club. 10. Courses: The course shall be as described in the sailing Instructions. 11. Scoring System: The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4 of the racing rules will apply. Two races must be completed to constitute a series. 12. Alternative Penalties: The 720 ° Turns penalty as in Rule 44.1 and 44.2 for an infringement of a rule of Part 4 of the I.S.A.F. rules will apply. 13. Prizes 1st Overall Ist, 2nd, 3rd Handicap 1 st Junior (helm and crew between 16 and 19 years as at 1 st January 2005) 1 st Sub Junior (helm and crew under 16 years as at 1 st January 2005) and as determined by IMCAT 14.
