General Business
Australian Sailing had printed info on photographic competition. They had also info on classes being sailed in Australia including the Mirror, but still with Queensland and Victoria missing and a recommended weight of 130kg. A letter to the editor might be the best way to rectify.
Montrose Bay YC have a clubhouse hire on the Saturday night of the MacIntyre Cup. It is OK for us to use the committee room and/or have a BBQ outside.
Jenny reported the stolen Toll sign to the police. Quentin to speak to Toll re replacement.
Mark Barrington and possibly David Moore are the only ones who have expressed an interest in going to WA for the Nationals.
David Graney attended a meeting of the Sabot committee at KBSC to discuss what class/s the kids coming out of Sabots would be encouraged into. He presented a list of possible classes ie those already sailed on the Derwent, together with the cost of new boats, good secondhand boats, crew weight. The committee generally were in favour of the Mirror as a step to the 420 as a double hander, and the Laser 4.7 or radial as a single hander. It was acknowledged that both the kids and parents would need to be happy with the decision.
He also suggested that the club consider allowing a crew to nominate who was going to helm on a weekly basis, to encourage two Sabot helms to sail together.
Meeting closed at 9pm
Next meeting: Monday 1 st November, 7.30pm at 6 Carinya St.
