MINUTES OF IMCAT MEETING

HELD ON 29/05/06 AT 6 Carinya St, Blackmans Bay

 

Present : Jenny Graney, John Sherriff, Andrew Roberts, Mark Barrington, John Behrens, Michael Brown, Quentin Hunt.

Class Promotion ..

The Promotion Board.

Andrew brought a couple of different mock-ups to the meeting. The meeting decided on which one to use. (Wavey writing on darker blue background with white writing). John Behrens to take to "Eye Spy" to make into sandwich boards.3 to be done. Will try to have them ready by 16 th July. Cost will be around $200 each. JB to check on size.

Legends. Decided that this could be looked at in conjunction with the Wooden Boat Show in future to get more publicity.

Sabot Helm to be held on the last Sunday in January (on the morning of the first Pennant Race of Dinghy Group.)

Mirror Website. Haylee and Katrina Smith elected to take this on at AGM, but have since decided that they are unable to do so. Jenny tried Paul Matthews who was going to try Alan and Rhys Witt. Michael Brown may be interested.

David Graney suggested that we may be better off changing over to the Yachting Australia Website template if we couldn't get anyone with knowledge to do.

The Date Base is still a work in progress. Jenny gave out copies for members to update asap.

The Bermudan Rig and Aluminium Boom is now legal and will be used for the World Championships in South Africa 2007. Copy of Rules attached.

Mike Brown, Jenny Graney and Quentin Hunt went along to a proposed meeting of RH Regatta Assn to discuss the future of the Regatta. This was a non event. Unknown whether it was cancelled, changed venue or what.

Correspondence

In: emails from Celia May re Worlds Team, Greg Pullen re midwinter Madness at Cygnet 16 th July. Request for funding..

Interest through Website on purchasing a Mirror (2) and one from New Zealand re setting up a class on Lake Taupo. .

Out: Replies to Celia. Support for Greg. Replies to all prospective purchasers and offers of assistance.

Finances

Treasurer's report was tabled and accepted.

Funding was approved for Greg Pullen and Port Cygnet Sailing Club to host the Mid-Winter Madness on 16 th July.

Moved: John Behrens, Seconded: John Sherriff that we pay the Entry Fees of boats going to the National Championships in Melbourne 2007 from Tasmania. This was suggested by Jenny Graney as a way of encouraging movement to the top of the fleet.

We need to pay MBYC for holding States and the National Assn per boat (15 boats are members)

National Championships: 1-6 January Port Melbourne

Training:

John Behrens suggested a training weekend. Meeting decided this may be better done at individual clubs on a normal sailing day, but with "guest" coaches. Mike and Andrew to check out a suitable day for Montrose, Jenny to check out KBSC. IMCAT to provide suggested drills and funds if needed. The bottom and middle of the fleet to be main concentration.

Northern part of the state to be contacted.

IMCAT to investigate the availability of a Mirror Training Video (UK?) or perhaps making one.

National Championships 2008 This is due to be in Tasmania. Jenny to send out letter to Mirror Clubs asking for expressions of interest.
