Greg to organise publicity for Australian Sailing (Perhaps a letter to the editor re the wrong class information printed)

GP

Class Promotion ..

John Behrens has organised some lettering for booms with website address?

The Promotion Board.   Andrew (absent from meeting) reported that it would cost $500 to get three boards done, plus around $500 for the graphics. We would need around 10 photos appealing to each of our target markets. Decided that there were not enough people present to OK the expenditure, but those at the meeting were essentially in favour. What is the difference in cost for one, two, three, four boards? Should the boards go to clubs or areas ie north, south, northwest?

Combined Pennant Races had been supported as a good idea in the south of the state. Montrose and Kingston to liase. RYCT?DSS Dinghy group keen for us to have a Mirror race up there. Decided it was difficult for Montrose as Mirrors were essentially their fleet, and they may be reluctant to shift just them. Suggested we could participate in their combined picnic, which would provide more extended exposure plus a chance for people to have a sail.

Tasmanian Legends Series Okayed at AGM. Meeting decided to liase with Greg Brooks at Dinghy group re having this on the afternoon of the Sabot Helm Challenge, around the last Sunday in January, or whenever the first day back after the Nationals for the Sabots was to be.

Once we have the date organised, Jenny to check the list with club delegates and notify “legends” with an expression of interest, also asking for a CV relating to their sailing and where the Mirror fitted into this. Boags suggested as a possible sponsor with related publicity and spectator boats probably drawn from “Mirror families”. Scott Price might be persuaded to provide his boat for spectators.

We will need to provide Mirror crews for the Sabot Helms and the Legends as this was an unfair advantage/disadvantage for last years Sabot Helms.

JG

State Championships. There were a few problems with results, protest. The association probably needs to set out some sort of a pack for the host club detailing who is responsible for what, with protest forms and anything else required.

JG

We need to ask Yachting Australia re coaching funding for World Championships as International Cadets have been getting this.

General Business

MacIntyre Cup provisionally 3 rd/4 th December 2005

State Championships provisionally 18 th/19 th March. Before the March Long weekend we would miss out on Sabot helm participation as they would preparing for their States. As both events would be in the south of the State perhaps this would be less travelling for those Sabot sailors who have expressed as interest. Northern participation?

We need to get enthusiasm started for the Nationals in Canberra. Given sufficient interest we will talk to Toll re transport in a container.

Winter Races:
